Level 4 Qualification VS Fast-Track Courses

Level 4 Qualification in Microblading/Micropigmentation

Two/three/four day Fast-Track courses

Speaking from personal experience I have done both! I did the fast track
Micropigmentation in Budapest years ago. It was a four-day intensive course.
By lunch time on the first day I was tattooing lips!! I practiced the motion of the
needle on a leather mat for 10 minutes then that was it I was released onto my
first (victim) client!! My Trainer helped me draw around the lips, then we used a
marker pen to dot around, she started me off and I was tattooing in a fashion. It
was an extremely scary experience as there was bleeding and discomfort for the
client due to my technique being unrehearsed. A sterile environment wasn’t
really a priority. Fortunately as I am a beauty therapist I was used to skin,
reactions and the physiology of skin but this was very different. I was
completely thrown in at the deep end, but my confidence was low performing
these immediate procedures and I realise now that is because I lacked virtual
practice on a leather, knowledge and support.

I was pretty mortified at the time even though I was a skin care therapist the
most I’d done with needles and skin was electrolysis but tattooing colour in to
this lady who was gripping the couch unnerved me to say the least. That night I
called my husband in pieces saying I’d made a mistake and didn’t want to carry

It was definitely a tough learning experience and I came back and began
practicing this procedure but “just got on with it” did I feel ‘sure’ or ‘confident’ –
No not really but I believed that this was how it was. I feel with most of my
trainings in this industry that I have attended, one of the many things that are
lacking is aftercare student support when dealing with their own clients or

Doing the fast track courses teaches you ‘how’, and if you can get insurance
immediately then you can start treating clients. However if you have never had
experience in actually treating or touching clients, consultations, skin physiology,
skin types and tone, colour theory or health and safety in a clinical/sterile
environment it can be quite daunting. Get it wrong and you could be liable. In
two days training can you confidently think you are qualified to start
impregnating colour into the skin with blades or needles???? #scarystuff
#couldruinfaces #qualificationsneeded

Doing the Level 4 is a full experience. Right from the beginning learning about
skin, hygiene, room set up, legislation, bloodborne pathogens etc starting on the
mat, learning techniques and it not being squashed into a two-day course. If you
were going for cosmetic surgery – (knife and skin/needles and skin???) you
would hope the ’Doctor’ had, had more than two days training and had been
properly examined or assessed by their senior/professional before embarking
on their career and performing procedures on clients.
The level 4 qualification and experience means you are proficient in practicing in
this industry it means you are a professional in your field!

Now perfecting the technique with other brands or trainers is a must for CPD
(Continual Professional Development) but your initial training I would highly
recommend you do it the correct way. Become the professional
